My creditors harass me over the phone all day. Can I make them stop?
Under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, it is illegal for your creditors to harass you. Forbidden tactics include calling you continuously; using insulting or degrading language; threatening to publish your private information, and calling your neighbors to share your financial information. You have the right to send creditors who use these tactics a “do not call” letter, which they must respect.
