Peanut Plant Filing for Bankruptcy

by Administrator 9. June 2009 01:15

A subsidiary of the Peanut Corporation of America, Plainview's peanut processing plant is filing for bankruptcy. Earlier this year, Peanut Corp was linked to the salmonella outbreak that sickened hundreds, forcing a bankruptcy filing by the company.

Now the subsidiary Plainview Peanut Company is filing suit. The company is filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection to liquidate all of its assets. The company was fined $14.6 million in April for a slew of infractions including unsanitary conditions. This fine has forced their bankruptcy filing.
